Según estudios recientes, 5 por ciento de todas las muertes en accidentes automovilÍsticos se deben claramente a la negligencia de mantenimiento propio de vehÍculos. Las siguientes reglas simples y económicas alargaran substancialmente la vida del vehÍculo, asegurará una operación más segura y hasta puede mejorar al medio ambiente.

Siempre consulte su manual de dueño para los itinerarios individuales porque los requisitos de mantenimiento varÍan por fabricantes.

Siempre consulte su manual de dueño, pero una buena regla simple es de cambiar el filtro de aceite en forma regular - cada 3,000 a 4,000 millas (5,000 a 6,500 kilómetros).
Revisar todos los lÍquidos, incluyendo frenos, dirección asistida, transmisión, limpiador de parabrisas y anticongelante. Estos lÍquidos juegan un papel importante en la seguridad y función del vehÍculo.

Revise las hojas del limpia parabrisa para ver si están rajadas, rotas y si tienen buen contacto con el parabrisa. Cámbielas por lo menos una vez al año o más temprano si empiezan a rayar.
Inspeccione las correas del motor frecuentemente. Correas desgastadas afectan el funcionamiento del motor. Revise si están rajadas o si le faltan secciones o segmentos.
Revise el sistema de filtración de aire frecuentemente. Revise el filtro de aire cada otro cambio de aceite para ver si esta tupido o dañado. Este sistema asegura que el vehÍculo esta funcionando óptimamente.

Liquido de Transmisión	Check level with engine running and transmission in park. If low, add type of ATF specified in owners' manual and/or on dipstick. For best results change every two years or 24,000 miles
BaterÍa y cables	Battery should be securely mounted. Battery connections should be clean, tight and corrosion-free. If your car's battery is three years old or more, it should be replaced
Correas / bandas	Check for looseness, cracks or glazing. Replace V-belts every four years/36,000 miles. Replace serpentine belts every four years/50,000 miles, or sooner if needed. Replace belt per interval specified in owner's manual. Typically, this is at 60,000 miles. Not replacing the belt as required could cause a breakdown or serious engine damage
Frenos y LÍquido de frenos	For best results, have the entire brake system - including brake linings - inspected at every other oil change.

Anticongelante	Check level at reservoir. Do not open hot radiator cap. If low, add 50/50 mix of approved antifreeze and distilled water.

Filtro de combustible	On carbureted cars, replace the filter once a year. On cars with fuel injection, replace the filter every two years or 24,000 miles.
Mangueras	Inspect for leaks, cracks or bulges, sponginess, brittleness and swelling. Replace hoses at lease every four years.
Focos	Replace bulb immediately if light is out.
LÍquido de servo dirección	Check the fluid with the car warmed up. Add approved type if low. If regular topping off is required, have system inspected for leaks.
Amortiguadores/Puntales	Inspect for leaks, damage and loose mounting hardware. Replace if worn, damaged or leaking. Have checked by a professional at lease once a year.
Presión y Condición de Llantas	Inflate tires to recommended pressure. Replace tires if worn or damaged. Remember to check the spare. Check pressure of all tires including the spare. Check tread for wear and for cuts or bruised along the sidewalls.
LÍquido Limpia Parabrisas	Check level every other fill up. Some vehicles have two reservoirs. Do not use water. Use waster fluid only.
Hojas del Limpia Parabrisas	Replace when streaking or chattering.
